SCRAP METAL & BOGUS CALLERS
Following a report of theft in one of our Parishes, where some wheels were taken from someone’s garden, when Officers made house to house enquiries it transpired that there have been several incidents in the area of people calling at addresses, making enquiries on scrap metal in people’s gardens, even offering beds or mattresses for sale door to door.
Can I please ask you to encourage your parishioners and neighbours to be vigilant, and if they see anyone acting suspiciously in the area, or anyone calls asking for scrap metal, or anything else they feel is suspicious, please do call it in to 101, the non-emergency number.
If they are able to take registration numbers of any vehicles seen, plus descriptions of any of the people then this helps us to build up an intelligence picture and go some way to identify the culprits. Please do encourage people to call it in, or if the moment has passed and they would prefer to email, they may do so on firstname.lastname@example.org
We don’t want anyone to think that you are wasting our time, as we can easily make checks on the information given, and would rather have more information than not enough.
PLEASE SIGN UP FOR POLICE DIRECT
We would also like to encourage as many people as possible to sign up for Police Direct – Norfolk Constabulary sends a variety of messages to the public – from e-newsletters to crime updates and crime prevention advice.
We can keep you up to date with news from your policing team including the latest priorities they’re working on, the actions they’ve recently taken and information about how offenders where you live have been brought to justice. You can also tell us if you wish to receive a monthly e-newsletter.
This is done through a high-tech messaging service called Police Direct.
You can register your details to receive messages from the Constabulary direct to your email inbox, mobile, landline or fax.
Registering your details is easy – just go to this page and follow the simple instructions to give us your details, and how you prefer to be contacted.
Once registered, you will be kept up-to-date about crime and policing issues where you live. This includes warnings about bogus callers and rogue traders, crime reduction advice and news from your local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
There is no charge for this service – all messages you receive are free.
As always, we are available on 101 for non-urgent calls, or email us on email@example.com and a member of the team will call you back.
